Students will learn to compute the confidence interval for the mean when the standard deviation is known or unknown and compute the sample size to be used for estimating the population mean. 

Read all the highlighted information on pp. 372-380 & 386-391 as well as complete the suggested Study Guide exercises #1 (page 378), #2 (page 388), and #3 (pages 390-391).  

Submit your solutions to problems (section 8.1) # 1, 2, 4 & 12 (pages 381-382), (section 8.2) #1, 2, 4, 6 & 11 (pages 393-394).
