Introduction
Informatics and organizational leadership are two of the most popular fields in healthcare today. This means that within the next decade, there will be more people with a degree in both fields than in any other. As such, it’s highly likely that one day you’ll need to choose between them. If so, I’m here to help! In this article, we’ll take a look at where each focus applies best—and how they complement each other—for those looking to pursue this kind of career path.
Organizational Leadership and Informatics Professional Degree Program through UMUC (8 years)
UMUC’s Organizational Leadership and Informatics Professional Degree Program is an 8-year program offered as a full-time or part-time option. The UMUC OLP Program offers students an opportunity to earn a master’s degree in organizational leadership with an emphasis on informatics.
The curriculum includes courses covering leadership theory, management skills and decision making techniques applicable to both the private sector as well as nonprofit organizations. Students also learn how to use technology for change management within their organizations through hands-on training exercises that include e-learning courses; web conferencing; video conferences; virtual teams; and social networking sites (Facebook).
Students must complete a minimum of 40 credit hours each semester along with two internships related directly toward their chosen field of study or interest area within Informatics (e.g., Web Designing). With two years of prior experience working at companies such as Google or Microsoft, you’ll gain valuable insight into how these large corporations operate while learning what makes them successful–and why they’ve been able to outcompete other companies in every industry imaginable!

The key here is always being ambitious but staying realistic—don’t let yourself get caught up in thinking there’s no way something can ever happen unless someone else says it can happen first!

All of this is possible because UMUC offers two degree programs: one with a concentration in Informatics, and another with a focus on organizational leadership. These degrees allow students to learn about the connections between information technology (IT) and other areas of business, such as healthcare management or marketing. By combining these fields together into one program, UMUC has made it easier for those who want to pursue a career in both fields.
