For your discussion this week, present a description of your proposed sample population and an interpretation of either 1) a power analysis you performed for your proposed study if you are using inferential statistics (exploratory/comparative) or 2) a sample size estimation if you are using a descriptive survey study. Include information on the purpose of your project, the estimated sample size, the test you selected, the number of tails and the parameters that you indicated for Alpha (confidence level), Power, and Effect Size (small, medium or large). If you know you cannot recruit the number of participants needed to detect an association or difference, or if you won’t be able to generalize your descriptive survey results, indicate the reason as a limitation of your study. Provide a rationale for the method you selected to determine your sample size (e.g. power analysis, confidence intervals or availability). The sample size calculation information will need to be included in the Sampling and Setting section of your DNP project paper and in your IRB application.
