Application 2: Laying the Foundation for New Approaches to Practice

As frequently noted in the literature, there is often a gap between research evidence and practice. This is not a new phenomenon; however, with the rapid growth of knowledge, it is essential that nurses hone their ability to identify this gap, determine best practices based on the evidence, and then apply this evidence to practice through the development of new approaches. In order for that to transpire, nurses must be skilled in leading change efforts so that adoption of new practice approaches can be successful. For your EBP Project in Week 2 (Application 1 [SEE ATTACHED FILES] ), you identified an issue in your practicum setting in which the outcome is different from what would be expected according to the research literature. This week continue to explore current research literature looking for new evidence to address the problem. In addition, you build on the work you began in this week’s Discussion and select an evidence-based practice model ( The Iowa Model of Evidence-Based Practice to Promote Quality Care” Or you can use the Johns Hopkins Model) and change theory (USE THE THEORY OF PLANNED BEHAVIOR) or framework that will support your efforts.

Introduction

Welcome to Pulse, the new journal of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). This issue marks a milestone for CAOT and our editorial team. We are excited to be entering into this new era at CAOT, where we will be publishing on a quarterly basis rather than bi-monthly like in the past. This change also means that Pulse will focus more on quality content with frequent and regular updates online so that you can find what interests you and stay up-to-date on all things occupational therapy!

The format of this journal is changing.

Pulse is a quarterly publication that focuses on quality content with frequent and regular updates online. This marks a milestone for the editorial team, who have been working hard to develop their new online content management system (CMS). It’s still in beta testing but we’re excited about what it can do for us moving forward!

Pulse marks the beginning of a new era at the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.

CAOT is a national organization for occupational therapists. It was formed in 1973 and has since been dedicated to advancing the profession through research, advocacy and education. CAOT is committed to promoting health and well-being through its commitment to improving access to quality care across Canada.

Pulse will be published on a quarterly basis

Pulse will be published on a quarterly basis, which means that you can expect to receive it each quarter.

The focus of the publication is quality content and online content management system (CMS). The first issue since CAOT launched their new online CMS has been produced by CAOT members who are also involved in research projects related to health care delivery systems in developing countries. The goal of this new platform is to allow us all access to the latest research developments while providing opportunities for networking among practitioners and researchers alike.

Pulse will focus on quality content with frequent and regular updates online.

The Pulse will focus on quality content with frequent and regular updates online. It will be published quarterly, and each issue will contain an editorial by a specialist in the field of IACSP and/or IIBPS. The journal aims to increase awareness among practitioners, researchers, policy makers and academics working at local, national & international level.

The Pulse will be available free of charge through our website (www.pulsejournalofacspandiibps). The format is easy to read & navigate; therefore we expect that it will appeal to all stakeholders from practitioners through researchers & educators alike!

This issue of Pulse marks a milestone for the editorial team – our first issue since CAOT launched our new online content management system!

This issue marks a milestone for the editorial team at CAOT. Our first issue since launching our new online content management system, Pulse will continue to be an important resource for readers and practitioners alike as we continue to provide updates on what’s happening in the field of occupational therapy.

We are committed to making sure that Pulse is a valuable resource for both you and your readers, so we’ve added some new features:

  • You can now access all of your articles from any device—no matter where you are or what device you have. We’ve made it easy for you by assigning each article its own URL (and corresponding page number), which makes it simple enough even without having an internet connection!

  • We’ve also improved how we display images within articles so that they’re easier on the eyes when reading through them during long sessions at home or work (or wherever else).

Takeaway:

It’s important to remember that while the content management system is new, the format is not. We’ve been working on this for a long time and have an established process for writing articles and editing them together. The goal of this new format is to make it easier for readers to consume our content in one place with minimal distractions from other sites or platforms; as such, we want each article to be well-written and thoughtfully edited by experts who know what they’re doing.

In addition, we will be regularly updating our site with new material—and it’s important that these updates come quickly so people don’t lose interest in our content over time!

Conclusion

The Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists is excited to be part of the evolution of Pulse and we hope that you are too. We believe that there is a lot of potential for innovative approaches to practice, which is why we have decided to launch with a format that is similar in many ways to other online journals. We will continue to be committed to high-quality content and fresh perspectives on occupational therapy so please stay tuned for future developments!
