Assignments

In this assignment, you will write a formal synthesis of the literature for your DNP project. In the paper, you should include the following sections:

  1. Introduction: Introduce the clinical question –write in a coherent paragraph/page with a short introduction to the problem/project. Include your PICOT.
  2. Methods: Literature search methods: Identify the inclusion and exclusion criteria used to select studies and include the final PRISMA diagram.  Three or more databases must be described.
  3. Findings: Extract and synthesize the data in the body of the paper. Discuss all studies included in your evaluation table but do not discuss each individual study **SYNTHESIZE the body of evidence.  This section is the focus of your paper. You should include at least 10 articles or sources of evidence in your paper.
  4. Strengths & Limitations: Identify the strengths & limitations of the literature.
  5. Summary: Provide an appropriate summary that discusses each central point in your paper.
  6. Conclusions: Draw conclusions from the body of evidence and discuss. Summarize the findings, and make a recommendation(s) for practice based on the evidence in your literature review.
  7. PRISMA – Present as Figure.  Remember that Figures and Tables belong after the references at the end of the paper.
  8. Tables:  Include the Evidence Table as an Appendix after the PRISMA diagram. All articles used in the paper must be on the table.  You should have a minimum of 10 articles for the evidence table. Your table will also be placed as a separate appendix. Tables only should be in landscape and be submitted as part of the paper. If you do not know how to change the paper orientation in a document, you should refer to the word processing software's help section.
  9. APA: Professional writing, style, grammar, headings, etc., are appropriate. Tables may be in font size 9.  The paper and references are in font size 12 per APA.
