Introduction
Good leaders are not born. They’re made. And if you want to be a good leader, there’s no better way to learn than by reading about what other leaders have done and experienced in their careers. In this article, we will go over the three main types of leadership styles: inspirational, transactional and transformational (which all fall under the umbrella term “servant leadership”). We’ll also look at some characteristics common among these types of leaders—including honesty and trustworthiness—and discuss how these traits can impact your ability as an employee or employee advocate (or both!).
A leader should be inspiring
A great leader should be able to inspire others.

A good leader inspires their team members to do their best work and achieve the goals they’ve set for them.

A great leader can motivate people by inspiring them with stories or examples of how they did something similar before, which helps explain why what you are doing now is important and why it’s worth doing well.
A leader should be honest and trustworthy
To be a good leader, you have to be honest and trustworthy. If a leader is not honest with herself or her team, it will be hard for them to believe anything she says. A leader also has to be honest with her customers–the people who are using the product or service that she provides–and they need to know that the results they expect will actually occur. The same goes for any problems that may arise: if there’s something wrong with the product or service that was promised, then tell everyone so they can fix it right away!
A leader should empathize with their team
A leader should be empathetic. They need to understand the needs and wants of their team, as well as what they can do to help them reach those goals. This can be done in a number of ways:

Showing empathy is one way a leader can show their team they care about them. This means listening closely to their concerns and then making sure that you address them appropriately. It also means being open-minded about feedback from your employees, even when it may not be popular with everyone else on staff; if there’s something someone says that goes against what you believe in or does not align with your company culture or mission statement (and therefore shouldn’t necessarily be implemented), take note but still listen with an open mind so that later on when it comes time for implementation/performance evaluations etc., we’re able to review all possible options before making any final decisions
A leader should be flexible
A leader should be flexible. Flexibility is a quality that allows you to adapt to change and respond to new situations. The best leaders are able to shift their approach when something isn’t working, whether that means changing their style of leadership or adapting the way they communicate with their team members.
A leader should be able to drive things forward and make progress

The first step to being a great leader is knowing what it takes. Here are the personal characteristics that all good leaders share:

A clear vision for your organization and its future. You need to be able to clearly define what success looks like, as well as how you can achieve it based on your company’s needs, goals and values. This will allow you to develop strategies that will help move your team toward reaching those goals in an efficient manner while also creating value for customers or clients who use or interact with those products/services (or whatever).

A willingness to learn new skills and experience new experiences outside of work, whether through volunteer opportunities or education at university level. Being open-minded about learning new things allows us all access into other worlds outside our own horizon – this makes us more adaptable toward any situation we encounter in life! And let’s face facts – everyone learns differently so there isn’t one right answer about how best way learn something new; instead we should find ways which suit ourselves best based on personal preferences…

Leading is a lot like parenting. You have to set examples and model the behavior that you want your team members to adopt. But unlike parenting, where you can give them their own room and tell them what they can eat or not eat, there is no such thing as “good” leadership in the business world–it’s all about finding what works for you! In this article we’ll explore some of the characteristics that make a good leader: how they impact others around them, how well they interact with other people (or not), how flexible they are when things get tough…and maybe even why some people aren’t cut out for leadership positions at all!
