NOTE: All work from these assignments should be

double spaced.

Listed below is your homework assignment from all 11 of the chapters in our

textbook. Per your Course Syllabus, you are required to complete

assignments from only 4 of the chapters. And, YOU decide which chapters

you want to complete the homework from.

For each of the four homework assignments, you CAN earn up to either

40 or 60 HUGE grade points, depending on which option you select below

and the quality your work. HOWEVER, please remember that you will be

tested on all 11 of the chapters in the textbook during this semester. Below

you will have two options to choose from for EACH of the four textbook

assignments that you select. The option that you select can be the same

for all four assignments or you can submit some assignments using Option

#1 and some assignments using Option #2.

Option #1: Complete Part 1 and Part 2 below. If you select this option, you

will earn 40 grade points—if you follow the specific guidelines detailed below.

Option #2: Complete Part 1, Part 2, AND Part 3 below. If you select this

option, you will earn 60 grade points—if you follow the specific guidelines

detailed below.

For each of your assignments, type the following information (horizontally—all

on the same line) at the top of the first page (one inch from the top):

Your Name—Homework ___of 4—Chapter number and name

After typing the above heading, skip one line (by hitting your return key only

one time) and begin typing your homework.

font, with one inch top, bottom, and side margins. Submit your document

in the “Print Layout” format (which is located under “View” at the top of

your Microsoft WORD tool bar). Also, your assignment should have one

inch top, bottom, and side margins—-just like this document that you are

currently reading.

Specific Instructions For Each Chapter’s Assignment:

NOTE: As indicated above, all four of your chapter assignments

should be double spaced.

Please DO type the (yellow) information below at the beginning of each

part, type your responses to each Part of your assignment. For example:

Part 1: Chapter Summary—(then begin typing your comments for this part

on the same line), etc. (Also, please type each Part number and name in

BOLD print, instead of regular print.)

Part 1: Chapter Summary—Begin typing your comments on the same

line. Summarize what you learned from reading this chapter. More specifically,

what are some of the key themes, concepts, and principles that you learned

when reading this chapter? (This Part should be approximately at least 2½

full pages in length. Summarize your thoughts about what you learned by

reading the chapter. Do not type your information verbatim—directly as it

is printed in the textbook. Type what you learned in your own words.)

Each paragraph in this section should contain between 6 and 7

comprehensive sentences.

Part 3: Chapter Learning Features—Each chapter contains six

additional informational features that are designed to enhance your learning.

Analysis” section—answer each of the questions listed there.

“Do the Research” questions, unless you desire to do so).

Specific Assignment: Again, select four (4) of the above features per

Below are other key points to keep in mind while

typing your assignment:

 DO NOT use the statement “I learned” when typing your chapter

summary…simply read each section of the chapter and summarize,

in your own words, what you learned from reading that portion of

the chapter.

 Since this report is already double spaced, DO NOT skip an extra

line between paragraphs.

 For the purpose of this assignment, make sure that each paragraph

is only between 6 – 7 detailed sentences—no longer.

 This assignment is free-flow writing, which will give you an

opportunity to read the chapter, analyze the information, and then

identify what you believe to be the most important factors of the

chapter.

 Write your report in narrative form, i.e., complete sentences and

paragraphs. Do not write incomplete statements, bullet point items,

outlines, etc.

 PARAPHRASE all of your chapter summaries.  In other words, write

your summary in your OWN words—DO NOT WRITE THE EXACT

information just as it is stated in the textbook.  Read the material in

the book and then reword your comments by putting them in your

own words what you learned.   This technique helps to develop your

critical thinking skills and writing skills.

 Please number each page of your report.

5

 Again, your assignment should have one (1) inch top, sides, and

bottom margins. A “full page” report will have information that you

have typed on every available line of each page.

 Again, please use a size 12 Ariel or Times New Roman font.

 Submit your assignment for each chapter only during week that we

are scheduled to read that particular chapter.

 While we all make occasional typographical or grammatical errors

when typing (including me), as Business and Management students,

it is essential that you learn and practice excellent proofreading

skills. As such, please proofread your work carefully after you have

typed each assignment and then correct your errors. Although I will

overlook an occasional error in your assignments, if you have

several errors in one assignment, valuable points will be deducted

from your work.

 Let me reminder you that if your schedule is extremely busy and you miss

submitting one chapter's assignment, RELAX–IT'S OK. Remember that

you only need to submit work from 4 of the 11 chapters to receive points

for your homework assignments.

General Grading Guidelines:

Although I will provide you feedback on some of your chapter assignments, I also

want to give you some idea of the value I place on the points you receive for

each assignment. As such, since each textbook assignment is worth up to 60

points (if you decide to complete Parts 1, 2, and 3), here are some general

grading guidelines to remember when you see your points for each assignment

posted in the Grade Center:

(a) 54-60 points = excellent work

(b) 46-53 points = very good work

(c) 37-45 points = good work

(d) 28-36 points = fair work

(e) 27 and below points = poor work
