ADDITIONAL INFORMATION;

Introduction

The health care system is a complex system that affects many aspects of health care. The effects of these policies, laws, and regulations are diverse and can affect nurses in many ways.

There are effects of healthcare policies, laws, and regulations on organizations, interprofessional teams, and personal practice

There are many effects of health care policies, laws, and regulations on organizations, interprofessional teams, and personal practice that can be difficult to understand. Healthcare policy is often complex. The effects of healthcare policies on patients’ experiences with their physicians are not always clear because they take place at the level of individual cases or hospitals or at a larger geographical level (i.e., state or national).

Health care policy may operate through regulations that regulate how insurance companies operate; how doctors practice medicine; what drugs are covered by insurance plans; what services are covered by Medicare vs Medicaid vs private insurance plans; whether patients can sue for malpractice damages if they’re harmed by a doctor’s mistake during an operation all these factors affect your ability to access medical treatment in America today!

Healthcare policies can affect funding

Funding can be cut, increased or redirected. The funding of your organization may be affected by the federal government’s healthcare policies and laws. For example, if you work at a hospital with a Medicare-participating physician group (MPG), your salary may not be covered by Medicare if it exceeds $5,000 per year; however, this amount could increase if you lose funding due to changes in law. You may also lose funding if a law is passed that reduces the amount of money Medicare can spend on certain types of care. For example, if Congress passes a law requiring doctors to use cheaper equipment or drugs, it could affect your ability to provide the best medical care possible.

Some organizations have been able to use their own funds to cover the cost of services provided by contracted providers within the same network as their own organization but outside its primary service area; these are known as “local” networks or “cross-network contracts.”

Healthcare policy impacts organization restructuring

Healthcare policy impacts organization restructuring.

  • The duties of a nurse may be affected by health care policy, and vice versa.

  • The duties of a doctor may be affected by health care policy, and vice versa.

  • The duties of a pharmacist may be affected by health care policy, and vice versa.

  • The duties of an administrator may be affected by health care policy, and vice versa

Healthcare policy may affect the duties of a nurse

  • Nurses are affected by health care policy.

  • Nurses may have to do more administrative work.

  • Nurses may have to spend more time on paperwork.

  • Nurses may have to spend more time on documentation.

  • Nurses may have to spend more time on legal issues

Healthcare policy affects many aspects of healthcare

Healthcare policy affects many aspects of healthcare. In addition to the funding, organization restructuring, and duties of nurses discussed above, it also influences how hospitals and other healthcare providers provide their services.

As an example: If a hospital system wants to reduce waiting times for patients who need emergency surgery by scheduling them on different days or at different times than those scheduled for elective surgeries, then this would be considered a form of health care policy (which helps ensure that everyone gets what they need).

Conclusion

As a nurse, you will be affected by health care policy. It’s important to recognize these policies and their effects on you and your practice so that you can make the best decisions for yourself, your patients, and your organization.
