Capstone Change Project Evaluation Plan

Introduction

The purpose of this document is to provide the Capstone Change Project with a concise overview of how to evaluate its delivery. In addition, this document will serve as an internal management tool to ensure staff are being provided with clear guidance on how they can best assess the effectiveness of their work on behalf of Capstone Change Projects.

Purpose

The purpose of this evaluation plan is to help you understand the pros and cons of your project. You will also be able to reflect on what went well, as well as what could have gone better and how you can improve future projects.

This document is meant for Capstone team members who were involved in this project, but not necessarily everyone who worked on it or received feedback from others about how they thought things went.

Stakeholder Engagement

In order to ensure that your change project is successful, it’s important to involve stakeholders at all stages of the process. Stakeholders are the people who will be affected by your project and should be involved in its design and planning from the beginning.

Process Overview

The capstone change project includes three phases:

  • Phase 1: Identification and analysis of current state. This phase will help your team understand the current state, as well as identify opportunities for improvement in that area. The goal of this phase is to come up with a set of recommendations for changing how something works or how it’s done on campus.

  • Phase 2: Designing an actionable plan for change (APC). In this phase, you’ll work with stakeholders from across campus to develop an APC — an actionable plan — that documents what needs to be done and how it can be done better than currently exists today so that it aligns with business goals and strategies related to improving student learning outcomes at UC Berkeley Extension. You may also choose to include additional elements beyond those outlined by UC Berkeley Extension leadership if appropriate based on your findings in Phase 1 prior

Capstone Change Project Deliverable

Capstone Change Project Deliverable

The Capstone Change Project Deliverable is the document that presents your project to others. In this report, you will define what success looks like and how you plan to accomplish it. You’ll also describe how students learned throughout the process, how they felt about their learning experience and what they plan on doing in future projects based on what they learned during this one.

The Capstone Change Project Report should include:

  • A summary of all activities completed by individuals or groups within your organization over the course of this project;

  • A detailed account of each activity with clear goals and objectives;

  • Documentation regarding any key assumptions made during planning stages;

Takeaway:

  • The purpose of the capstone change project is to help your organization identify how it can become a more effective and efficient organization by changing its processes, practices and procedures.

  • The purpose of the stakeholder engagement process is to engage stakeholders in identifying their needs and expectations, as well as provide an opportunity for them to voice their opinions about what changes are needed at your organization; this will help you understand where you may need additional resources (e.g., time or money).

  • The purpose of the process overview document is similar to those found within other change projects at Capstone–it provides an overview of what’s required from each stakeholder group during this project phase: who should be involved; what work needs doing; when we expect these things done by; etcetera!

Conclusion

Congratulations on completing your Capstone Change Project!
