INTRODUCTION
Academic and Professional network are important in attaining career goals. “Professional networking for nurses allows professionals to explore the field and develop a strong support system within the medical community.” (Professional networking in Nursing,” 2019).
Professional network emphasize on the development of relationships and interaction among nurses and scholar practitioners. This type of networking among medical practitioners can be attained by attending in seminars, conferences, and joining professional bodies with other specialists in higher positions in the field of healthcare. (Nursing. Org, 2019). ). According to Wofford, there are different ways one can network with others of same interest or disciplines. Majority of people tend to lean towards social media networking for easy accessibility. It involves forums that are mentioned above. Coworkers, friends and family can serve as support system/network. It is most likely that someone you know will be the link between you and your next job (Wofford, P). I was able to get my first job through my preceptor because she put in good word for me.
In conclusion, professional and academic network provide opportunities to nurses to gain experience, learn new ideas, and knowledge in ongoing nursing practices. In order for me to reach my goal and be successful in the MSN Program as a practicing nurse, I have identified at least two academic individuals and two professionals to collaborate with me in this academic success and professional development plan assignment. This networking foundation will guide me to attain my goal to succeed in my MSN/NP program and other endeavors.

NETWORK MEMBER 1
Name: Yelena Malkamalova
Title: MSN, NP
Organization: William Osler Health System – Brampton Civic Hospital, Brampton Ontario Canada
Academic or Professional: Professional
Why I selected this individual and/or team and how they will support my success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse:
Yelena has been a Registered nurse for over 17 years, after several years of Obstetrics experience under her belt. She went back to school to get her FNP license and certificate in mental health while working full time and raising her family. She is currently working with William Osler outpatient clinic. I met Yelena during my last clinical rotation in nursing school. She was part of the team working with final year nursing student as at that time. She is well educated and knowledgeable. She possessed strong clinical skills and gave feedback on timely manner. I learned so much from her within the 12 weeks that she was my preceptor. She was thorough in her teaching and ensured that her students practice holistically while integrating evidence based knowledge in the care we provided to all our patients. Our relationship did not stop after my practicum. I remembered she would updated me about her progress in her MSN/NP program and I was able to ask her about the NP role and education. She encouraged me to pull through when I was struggling with my health. She has supported me till I got my Registered nurse (RN) license and my first job at Credit Valley Hospital. She was excited when I informed her about my decision to start my MSN/NP with Walden University.NURS_6003 Module02 Week03 Assignment
I have chosen Yelena Malkamalova FNP/PMHNP because we had similar ambitions, she succeeded in fulfilling her career dream in such a short time despite many commitments, notably being a wife, a mother to two teenagers and working as an RN. She is such an inspiration and role model to me. She has been supportive and always encouraging me to pursue career advancement when I doubted myself and faced by other challenges. I am thankful for her guidance, friendship and support. She finished her MSN/FNP in 2016 and later got her certificate in Psychiatry mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP). Few years ago, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia to further her education and she proceeded in acquiring a Doctorate degree in nursing (DNP). Since she moved to Atlanta, she has been working with people experiencing mental health issues and their families.

I chose Dr. Arolambo as one of my professional network because of her experience, work and education. She has vast knowledge in mental health and her practice is evidence based. She is very compassionate with her clients and families. I visited her at her clinic this January; I was amazed with her work ethics and interactions with her clients and staff.
I look forward to collaborating with her on my journey at Walden University in becoming a scholar practitioner like her. She will be a great resource due to her vast experience and knowledge in nursing and management. I follow her work on social media, where she uses this medium to share information with large population and not just her clients on mental health stigmatization, managing mental health and accessing resources for mental health.NURS_6003 Module02 Week03 Assignment

Academic Resources and Strategies
Introduction
It’s always a good idea to know what resources are available at your child’s school, so you can help them stay motivated and engaged. Here are some strategies that might be helpful for you as well:
The school your child attends may offer interesting extracurricular activities.
If you’re looking for ways to stay involved with your child’s school, consider the following:
-
The school may offer a variety of extracurricular activities. For example, some schools will have sports teams that compete in tournaments outside their city or state. Others may offer clubs that meet after school and provide students with opportunities to interact with others who share similar interests as they do.
-
The school may host events that parents can attend on their own time (or during lunch). Some schools have annual meetings where parents are invited to meet other parents and talk about issues such as discipline or education reform efforts being implemented at the district level; this could be a great opportunity if you work in childcare or day care!
Your child may have a teacher or mentor who may be willing to talk about the class and how you can help improve it.
In most cases, it will be up to your child’s teacher or mentor to discuss the class. They have a wealth of knowledge that they can share with you and help you understand what’s going on in their classroom. Be patient as they may need time before they feel comfortable telling you anything about the class. Be friendly and supportive of them when asking questions; this makes it easier for them to open up about their experience with learning English as a second language (ESL).
When speaking with teachers or mentors, always be honest about how much time each student spends at school each day, whether or not there are extracurricular activities outside of regular classes, etc., so that there is no misunderstanding over any gaps between reality and expectation on either side -especially when dealing with new arrivals who may not yet have had enough opportunity yet out-there experiences beyond home life alone
Make sure that you understand what your child’s workload is like during the year, and while they are off from school.
The first thing you should do is make sure that you understand what your child’s workload is like during the year, and while they are off from school.
-
What is the workload like during the school year?
-
What is the workload like while they are off from school?
-
How can you help with the workload?
You might be able to help by doing some of their work for them or putting together a study plan that fits with their needs. Or maybe it would be easier if they just had an assistant who could handle some things for them (this can be difficult if there isn’t one available). If so, let your kid know about this possibility early on so she doesn’t feel left out or like she has to do all her own work anymore!
Talk to other parents about what might be helpful for your child at home once they get back from school.
During the summer, it’s important to be prepared for the transition back into school. If you have any questions or concerns about what your child’s teachers might expect from them in the fall, talk with other parents who have children at your child’s school. You can also ask other parents if their child has any issues with homework or classwork and whether they think those problems are related to behavior or attention span issues.
Showing support and listening can make all the difference.
When you’re feeling overwhelmed with your child’s academic struggles or emotional needs, it’s important to take a step back and focus on what you can do right now. This can be difficult if you’re trying to juggle everything at once–but taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of your child.
Here are some tips for supporting students:
-
Listen! If your child is struggling with something specific in school (like homework or tests), make sure they know that they aren’t alone and that they have someone who cares about how they feel inside their classroom community. Encourage them by asking questions such as: “Are these things making sense?” or “What would happen if…” The goal here isn’t necessarily always giving advice; rather than telling your child exactly what she should do next time around when faced with tough situations, try guiding her along by offering more general suggestions like “I’ve heard people say this about some problems before–what do YOU think?” The more open she feels talking about her feelings and worries openly without judgment from others around her–including parents themselves! -the better off both parties will be overall.”
Conclusion
We hope that this article has given you some ideas and tools to help your child excel in the classroom. Remember, it’s not just about being a good student—it’s about getting your child excited about learning! If you feel like we missed something important or left something out, please let us know. We love hearing from our readers!
