Write an essay addressing each of the following points/questions. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each number item. There should be three sections, one for each item number below, as well the introduction (heading is the title of the essay) and conclusion paragraphs. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Support your ideas with at least three (3) citations in your essay. Make sure to reference the citations using the APA writing style for the essay. The cover page and reference page do not count towards the minimum word amount. Review the rubric criteria for this assignment.

- Electronic health records (EHRs) are easier to read than the paper charts of the past, but many complain that healthcare providers are focusing too much on the computer screen instead of the patient.
- Is this due to lack of skill or training, poor computer system design, or just the nature of computer charting?

- Charting in an EHR consist of clicking boxes, do you feel this provides enough detail about the patient, condition, and events if there was a law suit?

The field of healthcare informatics is an exciting one. It is responsible for improving patient care and has been growing rapidly in recent years. In this article, we will discuss how theory plays a role in healthcare informatics decision-making by providing a foundation for designers to build on top of.

Theory provides guidance for designers and developers who must translate their ideas into specific recommendations for systems development. It also acts as an important source of knowledge that can be used by clinicians, administrators and other healthcare professionals in making decisions about how to improve patient care or maintain quality improvement efforts within organizations.

Theory helps us make sense of the world around us by providing us with explanations for events and situations which may be hard to understand. For example: how do you explain the weather? In order to answer this question we need theory because without it there would be no way of explaining why it rains or why snow falls in winter; we could just say “it happens” but that wouldn’t help much!

They can be applied at different levels of abstraction in healthcare informatics; from the level of engineering design, through specification, implementation and testing phases, until end users are able to use the final system for their own purposes.
