Professional Development of Nursing Professionals
Introduction
Nursing professionals are in a unique position to help shape the future of healthcare. As the population continues to age and as health care becomes more technologically advanced, nurses will be called upon to take on increasingly complex roles and responsibilities. In order to ensure that nursing professionals can successfully manage these changes, it is important that they have access to quality professional development opportunities that are appropriate for their level of experience.
– Background
As a nursing professional, you have the opportunity to work in an area that is growing and changing. The field of nursing has evolved over time as professionals sought to meet the needs of their patients by developing new ways of thinking about health and disease. This led to many different types of professional development opportunities for nurses who wanted to learn more about healthcare delivery systems or advance their careers through knowledge sharing and education.
In recent years, there has been increased interest in integrating technology into healthcare settings such as hospitals or long-term care facilities (LTCs). Technology can help improve patient care through better communication between providers on a variety of levels including interpersonal interactions within teams as well as remote monitoring capabilities which allow nurses across multiple locations access via mobile devices such as iPhones or iPads so they can communicate without having any physical contact with each other at all times.”
– Objectives
You will learn the following:
-
To identify the professional development needs of nursing professionals.
-
To identify the factors that influence the professional development of nursing professionals.
-
To identify the barriers to professional development of nursing professionals, and strategies to overcome them.
– Methodology
The methodology used to conduct this research has been described in detail in previous publications (Makwana et al., 2016; Makwana, 2014). This study was conducted at a tertiary care hospital in Kenya over a period of two months, from October 2017 until January 2018. During this time frame, we performed data collection through two-phase approach: First phase involved interviews with key informants and second phase involved focus groups discussions that included both healthcare providers and non-providers.
Tactile assessment tools were used to collect data on competencies related to knowledge while self-assessment questionnaires were used for self-efficacy variables.
Results and Discussion
The results of this study are as follows:
-
There is a need for more nurses to be educated in the field of nursing.
-
Nurses who have had formal education and training in their professions are more likely to be satisfied with their jobs and feel that they enjoy what they do.
Recommendations
-
Recommendations
The following recommendations have been made with respect to the future research:
-
The need for further knowledge regarding advanced practice nursing in relation to clinical practice and patient safety.
-
The need for more research on advanced practice nurses’ use of technology, particularly in relation to decision support systems (DSS).
Conclusion
In summary, the educational background of nursing professionals is important in order to develop their professional knowledge. It is also necessary that they have a solid understanding of nursing process and knowledge about their profession. With these skills, nurses will be able to deal with any situation and make the best decision possible for their patients.
